Schools & Groups

Whether you are a school wanting to add something a little different to your science offering; a Brownie pack, Cub or Scout group aiming for your ‘Astronomy’ badges; or a U3A, WI or Rotary group looking for a fun, educational workshop, UK Astronomy has a session for you.

A sample of some of the workshops that UK Astronomy offer:

See our Sun

Would you like to see the surface of the Sun?

View sunspots, flares and perhaps even catch a glimpse of an eclipse or planet transit?

Book a solar workshop and UK Astronomy can provide the equipment and expertise to allow you and your students/group to view the sun safely.

Our Solar System

This workshop uses inflatable planets and includes a presentation with pictures that our members have taken from their own gardens, giving you an interactive workshop on our Solar System with some fun facts about them thrown in.

This can also include a beginner’s guide to what you can see in the UK skies using your eyes, binoculars and of course telescopes.

Stargazing Evening

Want to see planets, learn about the skies or just try out some telescopes?

UK Astronomy has a wide range of family friendly gear for you to use, and friendly knowledgeable volunteers.

(please note practical stargazing is weather dependant)

Tie this in with our Solar System talk and you have the perfect combination for a truly out of this world experience.

Most teachers are not experts on space and astronomy, but they don't have to be.

UK Astronomy can provide the expertise in a way that will excite and inspire.

For Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Cubs, Scouts and Beavers we can tailor a workshop to cover the content necessary for gaining the Stargazer and Astronomy badges. The workshops are a combination of talks, video footage and hands-on activities.

Costs and length of sessions can be negotiated over a cuppa to suit the size, funds and locality of your group.
