What we do

We hold events and provide educational workshops to educate, inspire and excite others.

Most teachers are not experts on astronomy, but they don't have to be. UK Astronomy can provide the expertise in a way that will excite and inspire.

Whether you are a school wanting to add something a little different to your science offering, a Scouting and Guiding organisation, or a U3A, WI or Rotary group looking for a fun, educational workshop, UK Astronomy has the perfect workshop session for you.

For Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Cubs, Scouts and Beavers we can tailor a workshop to cover the content necessary for gaining the Stargazer and Astronomy badges. Workshops are a combination of talks, video footage and hands-on activities.

Costs and length of sessions can be negotiated over a cuppa to suit the size, funds and locality of your group.

See our Sun - Solar Workshop
Would you like to see the surface of the Sun? Well you will be able to in complete safety with this workshop session. View sunspots, flares and perhaps even catch a glimpse of an eclipse or planet transit?

If you book a solar workshop, UK Astronomy will provide the equipment and expertise to allow you and your students / group to view the Sun in complete safety.

Our Solar System - Workshop
This session uses inflatable planets and includes a presentation with pictures that our members have taken from their own gardens, giving you an interactive workshop on our Solar System (we'll even throw in some fun facts about them!). The workshop session also includes a beginner’s guide to what you can see in the UK skies using your naked-eye, binoculars and of course, a telescope.

If you book our Solar System workshop, UK Astronomy will provide the equipment and expertise to allow you and your students / group to have hands on fun learning about our very own planets.

Stargazing - Workshop
Want to see planets, learn about the skies or just try out some telescopes? UK Astronomy and their friendly, knowledgeable volunteers have a wide range of family friendly gear for you to use at this evening workshop. Please note however, that practical stargazing is weather dependant. Tie this in with our Solar System workshop session and you'll have the perfect combination for a truly out of this world experience.

If you book our Stargazing workshop, UK Astronomy will provide the equipment and expertise to allow you and your students / group to have hands on fun learning about our very own planets.
